Advocating 4 Kids LLC is dedicated and passionate about ensuring that all special needs children receive the educational support and services required to be successful. For this reason, we feel it is not only important but necessary to share with the citizens of Virginia Beach that Advocating 4 Kids, LLC has filed a complaint against Virginia Beach City Public Schools with the Virginia Department of Education, on behalf of all students with disabilities.
The complaint stems from the unacknowledged concerns voiced by numerous parents to the Virginia Beach School Board members at several school board meetings since September 2011. The Virginia Department of Education is specifically investigating the 3 areas of concern below. As a part of this investigation, a site visit will be conducted in January 2012. 1.) Failure to properly implement Individualized Education Program’s (IEP) 2.) Restrictions being placed on what parents can document under “concerns of the parent for enhancing the education of their child” 3.) Refusal of VBCPS to permit the parents to make their own “handwritten” notes on the IEP document.
